Members of 9 Kompanie, Fallschirmjager Regiment 6 with Alexander,
a veteran of F.J.R. 6 at his old position, Deadman's Corner,
St. Marie du Mont, Normandie.
In June 2008, members of 9/FJR6 were accorded the honour of attending the first significant Fallschirmjäger Re-Enactment at Deadman’s Corner, near St. Marie du Mont, Normandy.
The location was the museum at Dead Man’s Corner, which was the site of the FJR6 Regimental and III Battalion Command Post and later Regimental Aid Station in June, 1944.
We were honoured to have the company of three veterans of FJR6 who were delighted to be back at their old Command Post and gave a stirring rendition of Rot Scheint Die Sonne!
A poignant reminder of the futility of war was the meeting between Harry, a Red Devil who jumped at Arnhem and Alexander, a Green Devil who defended the position at Carentan; two young men with so much in common.
